ANESTHESIOLOGY

Our Doctors & CRNAs

Anesthesiologists at Santa Clara Valley Medical Center (SCVMC) have special expertise in critical care, pediatric, and obstetric anesthesia, as well as in the management of acute pain.

Board Certified Anesthesiologists and Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists provide anesthesia care for over 10,000 procedures each year.

A Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist or CRNA is an advanced practice nurse with training in anesthesia. A CRNA has a license as a Registered Nurse along with a background in critical care and a master’s degree in Anesthesia.

At SCVMC, nurse anesthetists and anesthesiologists have a collegial relationship based on mutual respect. The CRNA/Anesthesiologist relationship encompasses shared knowledge and safe, high quality patient care.

At SCVMC our anesthesia care team is comprised of CRNAs, residents, and attending anesthesiologists.

The Department is closely affiliated with the Stanford University Medical Center and is actively involved in its Anesthesia Residency Program.
