This clinic is a safe space for transgender, non-binary and gender diverse people experiencing homelessness. It is an accepting place for people and their families to receive information and care in their gender experience. The team respects all people and is dedicated to providing warm, compassionate care to everyone.

Gender Clinic located in East San Jose and Gender Health Center located in Downtown San Jose are two different locations that both specialize in care for transgender, gender non-binary, and gender diverse people, offering primary care, hormones, mental-emotional care, social work for help with basic needs, and referrals for other services. Please choose the clinic that best fits your needs:

  • Gender Clinic is located in East San Jose, provides care for people experiencing homelessness, and has medical walk-in visits only on Mondays 8:30 am-12:00 pm.
  • Gender Health Center is located in Downtown San Jose, is open to all people regardless of housing situation, and is open Monday to Friday with medical appointments on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays

Walk-in Clinic Hours & Services

Patients can walk-in during our clinic hours below and will be given a same-day appointment. Appointments are first-come, first-served and can sometimes run out, so patients should get to the clinic as early as they can.

  • Mondays 8:30 am – 12:00 pm (noon)

Services

  • Support and discussion about care
  • Medical care, including hormones and referrals, as needed and desired
  • Primary care, such as sexually transmitted infection and HIV testing, PrEP and PEP (the medications that prevent HIV)
  • Help with changing name and gender on identification cards
  • Mental health support, as needed and desired, for conditions like depression, anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), and ADHD
  • Housing assessments and resources
  • Substance use treatment services including medication-assisted treatment like buprenorphine and naltrexone for heroin, pain medication, or alcohol use
  • Social support services as needed and desired, like help with income, transportation, food, and shelter​​
