TRANSITIONAL INTERNSHIP
Intern Year Schedules
(Transitional Year vs. Preliminary Medicine Year)
Transitional Year Program
A one-year transitional program is sponsored by the Departments of Medicine and Pediatrics. The transitional program provides a strong foundation in multiple departments and interns go on to competitive residency programs in a variety of specialties. Based on the classic “rotating” internships of the past, our program provides our interns with a well-rounded curriculum that will make them capable and competent to care for any patient from their initial ED visit, through their inpatient hospitalization and on to their hospital discharge and follow-up outpatient visit.
Preliminary Medicine Internship Program
Our preliminary year interns come from competitive backgrounds and go into a variety of specialties throughout the country. An intensive experience in medicine is offered to those wishing for a purely internal medicine experience. The individuals filling the preliminary medicine positions are fully integrated with the other medicine interns. Upon completion, preliminary interns can expect to receive a superb clinical training that provides an outstanding foundation in Internal Medicine.
