Child Life Internship
The Child Life Program at Santa Clara Valley Medical Center offers a full time, 600-hour internship over approximately 15 weeks to train and educate emerging Child Life Professionals.
Our internship curriculum follows the requirements and standards set forth by the Association of Child Life Professionals (ACLP).
We select one candidate for each internship term year-round.
Before You Apply
- At SCVMC child life interns must be affiliated with a university at the undergraduate or graduate level.
- Per SCVMC policy, we are unable to host interns who are not affiliated with a school.
- Current affiliations:
- Azusa Pacific University
- Loma Linda University
- San Jose State University
- If your school is interested in pursuing affiliation with SCVMC, please contact [email protected] prior to applying.
- Current affiliations:
- Internship candidates must have:
- Experience working or volunteering with children, youth, and families in a healthcare or non-healthcare setting
- Completed a child life practicum by the start of the internship
Application Requirements
- For an application to be considered complete for review, we require the following:
- A completed ACLP Internship Readiness Common Application
- Cover Letter
- Resume
- At SCVMC, we observe the ACLP Internship Deadlines.
- We require all application materials to be received by the deadline listed by the ACLP.
- Any applications received incomplete or after the internship deadline will not be reviewed.
