    About the Position

    The successful candidate must have: completed anesthesiology residency program, certified or eligible for certification by the American Board of Anesthesiology, completed a sub-specialty fellowship training in cardiac anesthesia, and certified in Advanced Peri-operative Trans-Esophageal Echocardiography. The candidate will join a dynamic department that includes general, pediatrics, obstetrics and cardiac anesthesiologists. .

    About the Position

    Our department of anesthesia provides solely hospital-based care.  While this position will provide anesthesiology services at our St. Louise Regional Hospital (SLRH) it is a part of the Valley Medical Center (VMC) Department of Anesthesiology; and this position will be working closely with VMC anesthesiologists who work at SLRH on a rotational basis.

    St. Louise is in the most southern part of Santa Clara County, with 74 beds and 3 operating rooms + c-section suite. Cases would include general surgery, hand, podiatry, GU, OB/GYN, orthopedics and GI. OB volume averages ~22 deliveries/month.  There is no trauma, major vascular, neurosurgery or cardiothoracic cases.  Call is from home.

    ABOUT THE POSITION

    This is an exciting opportunity to build and contribute to the Cardiovascular Services at St. Louise Regional Hospital as a general cardiologist. This individual will work with a diverse group of providers, patients and families and contribute to a community based ambulatory service line. Referrals will come from south county community physicians, St. Louise Regional Hospital’s busy emergency department, and intra system needs. This individual will work in partnership with community physicians, inpatient hospitalists, anesthesiologists, and other clinical specialties, to provide consultation services and specialty support. This position requires certification by ABIM in Cardiology.  They will be primarily responsible for the General Cardiology Clinic and General Cardiology Call. For Interested individuals, administrative and leadership opportunities are welcomed.

    ABOUT CARDIOVASCULAR SERVICES

    The Cardiovascular Services Department at O’Connor Hospital strives to provide high quality, safe, compassionate, and patient centric cardiovascular care, and services to all residents of Santa Clara County. Our multi-disciplinary care team consists of physicians, pharmacists, nurses, dieticians, medical social workers, technicians, and other staff who are dedicated to the prevention and treatment of heart disease through cutting edge research and appropriate diagnostic and therapeutic options. We have Board Certified Cardiologists who have highly specialized training and expertise in Heart Failure, Interventional Cardiology, Cardiac Imaging (Echocardiography, MRI), Cardiac Device Implantations and Surveillance, and General Cardiology. We have a busy cardiothoracic surgery service, with almost daily bypass surgeries, valvular surgeries and other thoracic cases. Our recently launched TAVR program is becoming busy with referrals from all over Santa Clara County. Our department has an active group of 26 community cardiologists in various subspecialties and 6 community cardiothoracic surgeons.

    Areas of Clinical Excellence:

     

    • Interventional Cardiology: Our Cardiac Catheterization lab provides the latest technology to diagnose, treat, and manage coronary artery disease. We perform cardiac catheterization through both the femoral and radial route. Our patients have access to all three major drug eluting stents. We offer functional assessment of coronary artery disease with Fractional Flow Reserve and anatomical assessment with Intravascular Ultrasound. We perform complex coronary interventions such as chronic total occlusions, bifurcation lesions and calcified lesions requiring use of rotational atherectomy. Our lab participates in the County wide STEMI program, opening occluded arteries in patients with heart attacks in less than 60 minutes of their arrival to our Emergency Room.
    • Imaging: Our Imaging program consists of Echocardiography Board Certified Cardiologists. Our patients have access to transthoracic echocardiograms, transesophageal echocardiograms to assess complex shunts and valve disease, stress echoes and nuclear stress testing.
    • Cardiac Device Service: We have an active electrophysiology program and implant cardiac devices, including Permanent Pacemakers, Implantable Cardioverter-Defibrillators (ICDs) and perform Cardiac Resynchronization Therapy (CRT). Implantable Loop Recorders to help diagnose cardiac rhythm disturbances, and Intracardiac Monitors for heart failure patients are also implanted here. We have a robust Surveillance Clinic to manage these patients after implantation, as well as those treated with LifeVests and Subcutaneous Defibrillators. Also, our ECG Department offers patients 12-lead ECGs, 24 and 48 hour Holter Monitors and longer-term cardiac monitoring such as Zio Patch to assist with the diagnosis and management of patients with arrhythmias.
    • General Cardiology: The Cardiology Clinic at O’Connor Hospital welcomes patients from our entire multicultural community. We offer preventive cardiac services as well as the diagnosis and management of heart failure, coronary artery disease, valve disease, and arrhythmias.
    • Cardio-Pulmonary Rehabilitation: Our state-of-the-art onsite rehabilitation facility features trainers, modern equipment, nurses and organized classes Monday through Friday for patients with chronic cardiopulmonary illness and those recovering from procedures and surgeries. Our dynamic team engages patients and their families in physical rehabilitation and personalized healthy recovery plans, in a socially supportive environment.

    ABOUT THE POSITION

    This is an exciting opportunity to build and contribute to the Cardiovascular Services Department at O’Connor Hospital. The general and interventional cardiologists will work with a diverse group of providers, patients and families and contribute to busy inpatient and ambulatory service lines. Referrals will come from O’Connor Hospital’s busy emergency department, its busy inpatient services and community providers from many disciplines. This individual will work with the established group of O’Connor cardiologists and cardiothoracic surgeons, to provide consultation services and specialty support. The interventionalist will have access to O’Connor Hospital’s dual cardiac catheterization labs and will contribute to diagnostic and therapeutic procedures on a regular basis.  These positions require certification by ABIM in Cardiology.  They will also participate in General Cardiology Clinic and General Cardiology Call, with the interventionalist also covering a share of the Interventional Cardiology Call for the hospital.

    Adult Custody Health Services (ACHS) of Santa Clara County is a primary care site in the County of Santa Clara Health System. Santa Clara County Jail system is one of the largest in the country that includes the Main Jail in San Jose, Elmwood Men’s Facility and Correctional Center for Women in Milpitas. Custody Health Services is known as a regional leader in innovative ideas transforming the field of correctional health care.

    About the position

    We are seeking physicians with an interest in public health and providing care to vulnerable and underserved populations, to work with patients incarcerated at the county jail system and/or within our division of primary care with over 20 family medicine and 55 internal medicine primary care physicians who provide primary care services at eleven health centers, from Sunnyvale to Gilroy. This position with a joint appointment between ACHS and Santa Clara Valley Medical Center (SCVMC)

    The GI Division has nine full-time gastroenterologists and three advanced practice providers with expertise in ERCP, EUS, capsule endoscopy, balloon enteroscopy, hepatology, IBD, pH testing and high-resolution esophageal and anorectal manometry.  We have GI fellows from Stanford on-site at SCVMC along with internal medicine residents from SCVMC and occasional medical students. Our endoscopy unit and adjacent clinic were built with efficiency in mind. We hold several educational conferences each week with our colleagues from surgery, interventional radiology, pathology, medical oncology and radiation oncology.

    ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT

    Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at Santa Clara Valley Medical Center (SCVMC) provides direct care to the patients of Santa Clara County at the SCVMC ACS certified Level-1 trauma center and also facilitates the coordination of fracture care within the greater Santa Clara Valley Healthcare system, which includes O'Connor Hospital and St. Louise Regional Hospital.

    About the Position

    Preferred candidates will be comfortable in the management of the poly-trauma patient including pelvic and acetabular surgery, periarticular injuries, and sequelae of trauma including infection, nonunion, and deformity. Ideal candidates will also possess a strong focus on interdisciplinary quality improvement initiatives and clinical care pathway development. This position is ideal for highly motivated surgeons with a desire to help shape a growing orthopaedic trauma service while functioning as a clinical educator in a high-volume trauma center.

    Candidates must have or be eligible for a California Medical License, have or be eligible for a California Fluoroscopy license, have an MD/DO degree, be ABOS board-certified or board-eligible in Orthopaedic Surgery, and have completed a 1 year OTA-certified fellowship in orthopaedic trauma.

    About the DIVISION of Pediatric ENDOCRINOLOGY

    Pediatric endocrinology is a part of a robust group of Pediatric Subspecialists, covering nearly all subspecialty areas of Pediatrics. The department has nutritionist and social work support as well as a weight management and healthy lifestyles program.

    Our endocrinology team provides consultative inpatient and outpatient care for patients with a variety of endocrine disorders, ranging from growth problems, diabetes, obesity, disorders of thyroid, adrenal and pituitary among others. The current endocrine team consists of one full-time pediatric endocrinologist and a nurse coordinator

    About the position

    The preferred candidate possesses excellent clinical judgement, has strong bedside manner, effective communication skills and is a collaborator. Provider will work mainly at Santa Clara Valley Medical Center main campus in San Jose but will provide virtual support for affiliated hospitals at O’Connor Hospital and St. Louise Regional Hospital, as well as additional outpatient support services at our Gilroy clinic. Flexibility to occasionally work full time to provide 1-2 weeks of vacation coverage for division colleague is appreciated.     Our Department of Pediatrics has a busy 36-bed Pediatric Ward, 12-bed PICU, 40-bed level IV NICU, 170,000 outpatient visits per year, and is a key training site for Stanford medical students and pediatrics residents.

    Our Division of Neonatology provides NICU inpatient services for all infants admitted to a level 4 NICU at SCVMC and level 3 NICU at O'Connor Hospital (OCH).  We also provide transport services to other community hospitals including our sister hospital, St. Louise regional hospital (SLRH). We have neonatal nurse practitioners (NNPs) who are the front-line providers and pediatric hospitalists in-house during afterhours.  The neonatologists are the front-line providers at O'Connor hospital NICU. The Neonatologists are on call from home and will respond to all high-risk deliveries at VMC, OCH, SLRH, emergencies / escalation of care in NICU at VMC and OCH.  Our VMC NICU is a key training site for the Stanford pediatric interns and medical students.  Our unit culture is focused on safety and quality improvement.  We actively participate in research and quality improvement projects and work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team.  Physicians who join our division are pleased to find a very collegial work environment, with robust specialty and ancillary support and an integrated electronic health record (Epic).

    The Department of Surgery at SCVMC is a large, dynamic department which consists of 9 divisions, including general surgery/trauma, otolaryngology/head and neck, neurosurgery, plastic and reconstructive, urology, ophthalmology, cardiac (thoracic/vascular), podiatry, and dental. The department members serve as teaching faculty for Stanford residents in all areas except for podiatry and dental.

    The Division of Podiatry at SCVMC is seeking a well-rounded Podiatrist highly trained in all aspects of Podiatric Medicine and Surgery, including forefoot and rearfoot elective reconstructive surgery and trauma. The successful candidate should also have special interest and experience in advanced wound care modalities and high-risk diabetic limb salvage, familiarity with Charcot reconstruction, and an ability to provide a high level of care to a diverse patient population. This position includes coverage of a busy outpatient clinic located at SCVMC, inpatient podiatry call at SCVMC with a heavy emphasis on diabetic limb salvage, and a state-of-the-art outpatient wound care clinic.

    Our Post-Acute Care Transitions (PACT) Program is an award-winning initiative which focuses on patients who are medically stable and require nursing home level of care, but who do not yet have a safe discharge plan after hospitalization. Using a multidisciplinary approach, PACT coordinates a seamless transition for patients from the hospital to the nursing home where patients can access resources related to mental health, homeless medicine, substance use, wound care, housing programs, and palliative services. Once the patient is ready for discharge from the contracted nursing home, a team-based assessment informs a care coordination plan for patient integration back into the community.  We take care of our County’s high risk patient populations. We have the support of an excellent interdisciplinary team and committed physicians to ensure excellent career development.

    About the POSITION 

    The Post-Acute Care Transitions Program is seeking a physician join our established team. You should have a current CA medical license, DEA and eligibility to participate in Medi-Cal/Medicare. The successful candidate will work closely with our robust interdisciplinary team to provide clinical care to our diverse, fragile patients, as well as coordinate transfers from the hospital, to the contracted SNF and facilitate safe discharges to the community. There is also opportunity for QI projects for the division as well as teaching Internal Medicine residents.     Our Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation provides inpatient and outpatient care for individuals with Stroke, Traumatic Brain Injury, Spinal Cord Injury, and other disabling conditions.  We also provide inpatient consultations to our acute hospital, which is a Level 1 Trauma Facility.  Of note, we are a primary teaching site for the Stanford PM&R Residency program.

    This position requires candidates to be BC/BE in PM&R.  The preferred candidate would have experience in both inpatient and outpatient settings, expertise in musculoskeletal medicine, competence in both electrodiagnostics (NCS and EMG) and musculoskeletal ultrasoundFellowship training and BC/BE in Sports Medicine would be ideal, but not necessary.

    Our Division of Consultation and Liaison psychiatry provides inpatient psychiatric consults services to internal medicine, surgery, OB/GYN, peds, trauma, rehab, and the ED. We are a collegial work environment integrating acute psychiatric care with acute medical issues and work closely with multiple specialties.  We work closely with emergency, inpatient and outpatient psychiatry teams.

    This position requires board eligibility or certification in general psychiatry with experience in  consultation liaison psychiatry. Fellowship trained in Consultation Liaison psychiatry is preferred but not required.     About the DIVISION

    Our Division of Custody Health services is providing integrated care to our population including internal/family medicine, Mental health, Dental care, OB/GYN, rehabilitation medicine, optometry and more. The mental health division within custody health services employs 13 providers currently. Our division also includes 59 clinicians (LMFT, MFT, LCSW, CSW) who are providing therapy, case management and discharge planning. We have a team of 8 psychologists that provide therapy, risk evaluations, neuropsychological and psychological testing. The division is ever evolving and expanding. As custody psychiatrist you will have the opportunity to be a part of quality improvement and initiatives that focus on providing better more effective care to our patient population and improving the wellbeing of stuff.  

    About the Position

    Currently we are looking for a full-time psychiatrist for our acute psychiatric inpatient unit.  The unit’s capacity is 41 beds. There are 3 psychiatrists covering the unit 7AM-5PM during weekdays, weekends and holidays. There are 2 case managers and 1 psychologist as well as full nursing staff working on the unit.

    This position requires board certification in psychiatry or board eligible with a clear plan to get certified. The preferred candidate will have previous experience working in custody psychiatry and/ or acute inpatient psychiatry service.

    About the Department

    The department includes two vaults equipped with a Varian TrueBeam and a Varian Trilogy (the latter to be replaced in 2024); a GE Lightspeed RT CT simulator (upgrade planned for 2024); on-site PET/CT simulation; and advanced treatment technologies including SABR/SBRT, SRS, respiratory motion management, and HDR brachytherapy for gynecologic patients. 

    The team includes three radiation oncologists, two medical physicists, a dosimetrist, six radiation therapists, and a clinic team of three nurses, one medical assistant, a nurse navigator, and a nurse practitioner.  The practice has applied for APEx accreditation and expects to achieve accreditation this summer.  We serve as a training site for the Stanford Radiation Oncology residency program.  There are also opportunities for resident and medical student teaching through our hospital’s internal residency training programs and established collaboration with Stanford School of Medicine.

    The department is a part of the Sobrato Cancer Center at SCVMC.  Co-located within the Cancer Center are Medical Oncology, GYN oncology, Palliative Care, Cancer Genetics, and Specialty Pharmacy colleagues, as well as a 21-chair infusion center with an on-site infusion pharmacy.  Supportive services on-site include medical social workers, dieticians, a psychologist, and additional oncology nurse navigators.  The department enjoys excellent collaboration with a wide range of medical specialists, diagnostic and interventional radiologists, surgical subspecialties (breast surgery, thoracic surgery, ENT, orthopedic oncology, among others), and a strong internal network of primary care physicians.

    We treated over 450 patients in 2022 and are looking for a motivated individual to join our team as we work to serve patients throughout our health system.  The successful candidate is BC/BE in Radiation Oncology and has experience with VMAT/IGRT, SABR, SRS, and HDR brachytherapy.  The ideal candidate would be available to start work immediately upon completion of credentialing.  Experience with EPIC-based EMR is a plus.

    Our Division of Rheumatology provides consultative inpatient services and outpatient care for patients with rheumatologic disease and is a key training site for SCVMC Internal Medicine residents and Stanford Rheumatology fellows.     ABOUT THE POSITION

    The primary responsibilities for this position are providing patient care in general rheumatology clinic, outpatient procedures and inpatient consultation.  In addition to patient care, the selected candidate will participate in the teaching and training of students, residents, and rheumatology fellows. Candidate must be passionate about providing quality care for the underserved. Candidates must be board certified/eligible in rheumatology. Applicants are required to have an MD or equivalent and must be eligible for licensure in the State of California.

    The Department of Surgery is a dynamic department which consists of community and employed surgeons in general surgery, neurosurgery, urology, [MB1] podiatry etc. Allied Health Professionals are an integral part of our team.  The department members serve as teaching faculty residents and medical students.

    About the Position

    The successful candidate will be BC/BE by the American Board of Surgery. The position includes the provision of acute care general surgery services, as well as the care of a wide range of outpatient surgical patients. Call coverage for the OCH Emergency Department and the busy inpatient services are combined with support of the surgical hospitalist service. The OCH General Surgery clinic is located on-campus and is supported by a general surgery physician assistant. Robotic surgical system is available at the hospital, including a well-structured team. There is a busy multi-disciplinary Wound Care Center with hyperbaric medicine on-site as well, with inpatient wound care consultation available.

    The Department of Surgery at SCVMC is a large, dynamic department which consists of 9 divisions, including general surgery/trauma, otolaryngology/head and neck, neurosurgery, plastic and reconstructive, urology, ophthalmology, cardiac (thoracic/vascular), podiatry, and dental. The department members serve as teaching faculty for Stanford residents in all areas except for podiatry and dental.

    The Division of Podiatry at SCVMC is seeking a well-rounded Podiatrist highly trained in all aspects of Podiatric Medicine and Surgery, including forefoot and rearfoot elective reconstructive surgery and trauma. The successful candidate should also have special interest and experience in advanced wound care modalities and high-risk diabetic limb salvage, familiarity with Charcot reconstruction, and an ability to provide a high level of care to a diverse patient population. This position includes coverage of a busy outpatient clinic located at SCVMC, inpatient podiatry call at SCVMC with a heavy emphasis on diabetic limb salvage, and a state-of-the-art outpatient wound care clinic.

    About the position

    This physician will provide clinical and administrative oversight of our Gender Health Clinic which is the an integrated, team-based primary care clinic with collaboration between primary care, specialty, psychiatry, social services, nursing, and community partners, including partners in the transgender/gender expansive community.  The clinic provides primary care to our transgender/gender expansive patients, including preventative health, disease management, hormonal therapy and surgical treatment for gender transition. 

    This physician will also provide clinical consultation and guidance to other primary care providers at the Gender Health Clinic and other SCVMC clinics, regarding transgender/gender expansive patients.  This physician will collaborate and serve as the advisor when appropriate to other parts of the County health system with the ultimate goal of strengthening the care we provide to our patients.

    Candidates must be board-certified in Family Medicine or Internal Medicine and have at least one year of clinical experience providing healthcare for transgender/gender expansive patients.     About the VALLEY HOMELESS HEALTHCARE PROGRAM (VHHP)

    VHHP provides preventative, acute and chronic medical care for approximately 7, 000 homeless and recently homeless patients annually.

    VHHP consists of a network of Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHCs), mobile medical units and street medicine and outreach programs that serve the homeless community of San Jose. VHHP is part of the Santa Clara Valley Health and Hospital System (HHS), and in existence since 2003 with a staff of approximately 100 people. Provider staff includes 10 internists, 5 family medicine physicians, 1 pediatrician, 1 family nurse practitioner, 4 psychiatrists, 3 pharmacists, and 4 psychologists and therapists. The staff also includes social workers, nurses, and outreach workers. Integral to its function, the program has several key partners including a case management team, psychology internship program, a methadone clinic, and a shelter organization.

    About the Position

    The VHHP physician will be one of 17 providers delivering primary care to patients experiencing homelessness. As part of the larger Valley Homeless Healthcare Program, the physician’s responsibilities may include involvement in some of these projects: 

    • Primary Care – Will provide primary care to patients across a variety of clinical sites, including fixed clinic sites, mobile medical unit sites, a medical respite program, and a street medicine program. Our clinics are diverse and tailored so specific vulnerable subpopulations, including a teen drop-in center, migrant farmworker outreach site, transgender/non-binary clinic, Re-Entry Clinic for people just released from custody and people who are pregnant.
    • Teaching – Physicians will be expected to teach Internal Medicine residents, Family Medicine residents and Addiction Medicine fellows in various outpatient settings.  Other teaching opportunities include noon conference didactics for internal medicine residents and didactics for SCVMC Social Medicine residents.

    The Medical Respite Program provides transitional housing with interdisciplinary care support during business hours for individuals experiencing homelessness who are recovering from an acute illness and injury.  Respite is one of the clinical sites within the Valley Homeless Healthcare Program, a program that provides services to the most vulnerable individuals in Santa Clara County with robust interdisciplinary services. Our program staff have high morale and provide services in a culture that values teamwork, advocacy, humility and patient centeredness.

    About the Position

    In addition to Board certification or eligibility in Primary Care (Family Medicine/Internal Medicine), the successful candidate must have experience in leading teams and/or interdisciplinary care models.

    Scope of the Respite Medical Director

    • Provide leadership and strategic planning for Medical Respite in collaboration with respite lead nurse, including:
      • Foster ongoing interdisciplinary approach to patient care
      • Develop systems to insure consistent and comprehensive care delivery, daily problem solving, and ensure productivity at medical respite  
      • Lead quality improvement projects for the medical respite program
      • Coordinate development of medical respite policies and procedures with respite lead nurse
      • Continually evaluate referral process and criteria
    • Provide direct patient care to medical respite residents two days per week and at other designated VHHP clinical sites one additional half day per week. Provide on-call care for urgent clinical needs that arise at Medical Respite (during working hours only).
    • Assist referral nurse in evaluating referrals for medical appropriateness or eligibility for the respite program as needed.
    • Participate in weekly respite case conference with the rest of the medical respite team to develop integrated care plans for all respite clients.
    • Co-lead monthly respite staff meetings with respite lead nurse.
    • Review program data and report as needed to various stakeholders; evaluate data needs and work with collaborators to update data collection and reports as needed.
    • Teaching rotating internal medicine residents about medical respite and care for psychosocially complex populations.
    • Engage with national and local community of medical respite providers.
