Adult Trauma

Physicians treating adult patients with the following injuries should transfer their patients to SCVMC:

Central Nervous System Injuries

  • Penetrating Injury or open fracture
  • GCS <14 especially those on blood thinning medications
  • Spinal Cord or major vertebral injury
     

Chest Injur​ies

  • Major chest wall injury with >3 rib fractures and/or pulmonary contusion
  • Penetrating chest injury
     

Pelvis/Abd​omen Injuries

  • Pelvic ring disruption
  • Concern for splenic, liver, renal, pancreatic, or other solid organ injury
     

Major ​extremity Injuries

  • Fracture/dislocation with loss of distal pulses and/or ischemia
  • Open long bone fractures
  • Two or more long bone fractures
     

Any Burn/Tra​uma Injuries

​Any major injury to two or more body regions or Multiple System Injury​​


Pediatric Trauma

Patients with the following injuries should transfer their patients to SCVMC:​

CENTRAL NERVOUS SYSTEM INJURIES

  • Penetrating Injury or open fracture
  • GCS <14 with our without abnormal CT Scan
  • Spinal Cord or major vertebral injury
     

CHEST INJUR​IES

  • Major chest wall injury with >3 rib fractures and/or pulmonary contusion
  • Penetrating chest injury
     

PELVIS/ABD​OMEN INJURIES

  • Pelvic ring disruption
  • Concern for splenic, liver, renal, pancreatic, or other solid organ injury
     

MAJOR ​EXTREMITY INJURIES

  • Fracture/dislocation with loss of distal pulses and/or ischemia
  • Open long bone fractures
  • Two or more long bone fractures
     

ANY BURN/TRA​UMA INJURIES

​Any major injury to two or more body regions or Multiple System Injury​​​
