The Hope Clinic provides primary care, mental health, and social services to people who live in or will soon live in what’s called, “permanent supportive housing.”
Permanent supportive housing means affordable housing that also comes with health care and other supportive services like mental health services and case managers who help with things like making appointments, transporting patients to appointments, and getting medications from the pharmacy.
In 2016, the County approved $950 million to build new affordable housing buildings over the next ten years in 6 different cities. There will be 4,800 new apartments built for people with very low incomes. In 2019, the 2nd Street Studios gave housing to 134 persons experiencing homelessness in downtown San Jose. Villas on the Park and Renascent Place are due to open within the next year.
