Pathology & Laboratory

The Laboratory at Santa Clara Valley Medical Center is a full-service Clinical and Anatomic Pathology Laboratory comprised of the sections of Chemistry, Special Chemistry, Toxicology, Hematology, Coagulation, Transfusion Service, Microbiology, Virology, Mycobacteriology, Immunology, Parasitology, Mycology, Processing and Accessioning, Histology, Cytology, Laboratory Information Services, and Support Services. The Laboratory receives, processes, and tests approximately 2500-3000 specimens per day in a highly automated facility. The high volume, multi-disciplinary workload provides rich and varied experiences in laboratory medicine.

The Laboratory serves Santa Clara Valley Medical Center, our outpatient clinics, the inmate population at the jails and correctional institutions, and provides specialized reference laboratory services to other community hospitals and laboratories.

The Laboratory places a strong emphasis on technical excellence and teamwork. You will be part of a select group of highly motivated healthcare professionals working together to optimize the delivery and continuum of care.

You will also work on diverse and challenging cases associated with a top-notch teaching hospital. You will also be able to further enhance your skills by teaching others. The Laboratory is affiliated with local educational institutions providing Phlebotomy and Clinical Laboratory Scientist training programs.

The Laboratory at SCVMC is currently looking for all classifications of laboratory professionals who are motivated and hoping to enhance their career. As a great place to begin or continue your work in laboratory medicine, SCVMC welcomes entry level as well as more experienced applicants.
